Specsavers in Croydon is now offering NHS diabetic screening appointments, giving people more choice about where they have their test.
All diabetes sufferers aged 12 and over are offered annual screenings to check for diabetic retinopathy, which can severely damage someone’s eyesight or lead to blindness if not picked up early and treated properly.
After receiving full accreditation, Specsavers Croydon will now be able to deliver diabetes screening services three days a week at the North End store, providing customers with an alternative high street option to receive their annual NHS checks. The services will be available every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
A word from the Director
Bill Pennell, store director at Specsavers Croydon North End, said: ‘Annual screenings are a vital health check for diabetics so we’re pleased we can give them more choice about where to go for their appointment. This comes with the added benefit of helping to reduce pressure on our local NHS services.’
‘This is a really great opportunity to utilise the expertise we have available in our store while also ensuring people aren’t forced to go private in order to receive the treatment they need.’
