Putney eyecare experts are calling on over 40s to put eye tests on their agendas this Diabetes Week (14-20 June).
The team from Specsavers in Putney is highlighting the role eye tests play in detecting diabetes during the annual awareness week.
Digital retinal photography, carried out routinely in eye tests for over 40s at Specsavers, at no extra charge, allows opticians to take a detailed picture of the back of the eye. This can highlight a range of conditions including diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, risk of stroke and symptoms associated with brain tumours.
Digital retinal photography is also included in eye examinations for under 40s at Specsavers at no extra charge, when recommended by an optician.
A word from the store director
Heanal Patel, store director at Specsavers in Putney, said: ‘Diabetes Week is an opportunity for us to highlight the important role eye tests play in detecting the condition and an opportunity for people to put general health checks, such as eye tests, on their agendas.’
