Derry duo all eyes for specs awards
Two City of Derry~Londonderry women are shortlisted as regional finalists in this year’s Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition.
Youth work undergraduate Enya Quigley (22) and wedding cake creator and grandmother Kathleen Crossan (60) have won awards in their respective age categories (16-24 and 60+) and will go forward to the next stage of judging, competing against short-listed finalists from throughout the UK and Ireland.
Derry star a special guest at awards night
If Kathleen and Enya are successful they will join a star-studded line-up of celebrities headlined by former Girls Aloud singer and Derry girl Nadine Coyle at the Specsavers hosted gala final in London on 10th October.
The overall winner will receive a cash prize of £10,000 and will be named the 2017 Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year.
Kathleen and Enya visited the Derry Specsavers store on Ferryquay Street and each was presented with a bottle of champagne, a certificate and a £150 Specsavers voucher.

Raising cash for Kidscape
Specsavers are donating £1 for each Spectacle Wearer of the Year entry made, to anti-bullying charity Kidscape. The competition has raised in excess of £400,000 for Kidscape over the past six years.
