The team at Derby Specsavers took home the trophy for Practice of the Year in the AOP (Association of Optometrists) Awards 2020, on Sunday 26 January.
Specsavers in the Intu Centre won the prestigious national award which recognises clinical excellence and exemplary customer service in eye care. From a shortlist of five opticians, the store then clinched the top spot through a public vote.
A word from the store director
‘We’re quite simply over the moon to have won this award,’ said Uan Gohil, store director. ‘To have made it through as a finalist was a testament to the team here - the wonderful work they do, their commitment to offering the very best in eye care and their tireless support for the local community.
‘But the icing on the cake is to have won that top spot thanks to the backing of our customers and community who voted for us. That really speaks volumes and makes me very proud.’
Clinical excellence and customer focus
The awards, now in their ninth year, recognise the highest levels of achievement in UK optics. The Practice of the Year accolade, which is sponsored by Optos, celebrates a practice, either multiple, franchise or independent, that can demonstrate clinical excellence and a strong emphasis on the patient journey.
