Dementia Friendly Team at Specsavers Fulham
As the nation marked Dementia Awareness Week (15-21 May), the team at Specsavers in Fulham were busy behind the scenes completing their Dementia Friends training.
The store can now proudly announce that all of its optometrists are Dementia Friends.
How to spot a Dementia Friend
When you next go in store just look out for staff wearing a Dementia Friend badge on their uniforms. This badge helps to signify their increased level of dementia awareness to customers.
Alice Cole, store director of Specsavers in Fulham, says: 'Being Dementia Friends is an incredibly positive development in our offering to customers.
'By uncovering the truth about dementia it really opened my eyes to how at Specsavers, when performing our daily duties, we can all take a little time to support and care.’
The training covers all aspects of dementia and highlights how it affects people in different ways, including senses such as sight and hearing.
Specsavers learning and development manager Samantha Jessop said: ‘I’m delighted we are now offering this as part of our core training offer for our staff.
'By providing dementia awareness training we are taking necessary steps to equip all colleagues with the necessary skills to support all of our customers, regardless of the personal struggles any of our customers may be facing.’
