The Dalgety Bay store helped vital key workers so they are able to perform their jobs.
The store remained open for emergency and essential eye care only, especially for key workers who couldn’t function without the opticians’ help and people who would come to harm without its health expertise.
Remaining open has also helped ease pressure on hospital services and NHS facilities, which are being prioritised for the fight against COVID-19.
Staff helped a police officer who contacted the store in order to source contact lenses as his usual provider was closed.
The police officer usually wore two weekly disposable contact lenses but was keen to switch to daily disposables while working on the front line and being required to wear additional PPE.
The man was able to provide details of his prescription via email and the store promptly ordered the contact lenses which will be delivered straight to his door.
A word from the store director
Natalie Stewart-Murphy, store director at Specsavers in Dalgety Bay, said: ‘Under current circumstances, something as ordinary as ordering contact lenses felt so important and we were delighted to be able to help the police officer to continue to perform his job.’
Natalie adds: ‘If you need an urgent consultation because your condition is causing you distress, or preventing you from functioning as you normally would without our help, please call the store in the first instance.’
