Specsavers in Newtownards recently held a coffee morning dedicated to Comic Relief. As a partner of the charity, the local store baked some sweet treats for their customers and laid out a tea party, raising £100 in one morning.

Fun in the Frame

Leigh Nelson, store director at Specsavers Newtownards said: ‘With our staff, customers and patients, we had a fabulously fun weekend celebrating Comic Relief in the store, from our coffee morning fundraiser where our generous customers raised £100, to a weekend of selfies that followed!

‘We had a giant pair of our Give us a Wave specs and a giant Instagram board which proved to be a lot of fun, with everyone uploading their photos to social media with the hashtag #GiveusaWave.’

Get the glasses and give us a wave

Specsavers Newtownards is selling special Comic Relief comedy waving hand glasses for only £2 each, every penny of which will go to the charity.

Leigh continued: ‘We’ll be selling the fun comedy frames until the end of the month, however they are in limited supply, so get them while you can!’

Red Nose Day takes place on Friday 24th March, and Specsavers stores across the UK hope to raise up to £250,000 for Comic Relief this month.
