Wedding bells are ringing at a local opticians, where an astonishing seven out of fourteen employees have got married in the last two years.

Cupid strikes
Zoe Elliott, Jennifer Dugdale, Helen Clegg, Lauren Blackadder, Rachel Flanagan, Gemma Matthewman and Megan White, who all work at the Specsavers store in Catcliffe, have all celebrated their big day since summer 2013.

The seven ladies have racked up an impressive 60 years of service at the Catcliffe Specsavers branch between them.

Blushing brides
The brides kept things close to home, getting hitched at a few different venues across South Yorkshire, with a variety of wedding styles including traditional, vintage and contemporary.

Zoe Elliot, an optical dispensing assistant who has worked at Specsavers for 11 years, was first to tie the knot.

She said: ‘I met my husband at a colleague’s party when I first started at Specsavers. It was definitely love at first sight! If it weren’t for Specsavers I would never have met him.’

Meanwhile Lauren Blackadder, a dispensing optician, played a little harder to get: ‘We met on a night out and I gave him my number. He called the next day but I didn’t ring him back for over two weeks!’

A word from the store manager
Store manager Samantha Watts said: ‘It’s been absolutely lovely watching all the girls go off and celebrate one by one, although it has made the rotas a little tricky at times! The atmosphere in the shop has been lovely and it’s been a lot of fun seeing them all planning hard to make their big day perfect.’
