Croydon mum leads opticians in hospice appeal
The sky is the limit for a Croydon mum as she leads optical experts in a fundraising campaign for Sydenham's hospice.
Mandy Kingsford (33), a contact lens supervisor and optical dispenser at Specsavers in Croydon's Church Street, is championing the efforts as she bids to raise £400 in sponsorship for her upcoming sky dive in aid of St Christopher’s Hospice.
How to get involved
Mandy’s colleagues from Specsavers in Croydon's North End opticians and Church Street will be showing their support by hosting a fundraising day on Saturday 27 September. Each store will host a prize draw, while Croydon North End will have an additional teddy tombola, children’s lucky dip and bake sale.
A word from Mandy
Mandy said: ‘St Christopher’s is a cause very close to my heart. The hospice cared for my father and my aunt, and I signed up for the charity skydive as a way to show my support and gratitude for their great work. The fact that I have the backing of my Specsavers colleagues is wonderful.’
A word from the store director
Bill Pennell, store director at Specsavers in Croydon Church street and Croydon North End, added: ‘We’re very proud of Mandy and want to help her reach her £400 target ahead of her skydive. If you’re in the area on Saturday 27, why not pop by and show your support too.’
Visitors to the stores are also invited to drop off any unwanted gifts or prizes to be passed onto the hospice for their fundraising initiatives.
