Craigavon customer makes regional semi-finals

Craigavon Specsavers customer Brian O’Neill has been chosen out of hundreds of people across Northern Ireland as a regional semi-finalist in this year’s Specsavers organised Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition. Brian (64) is now in with a chance of winning through to the Grand Final in London on 11th October 2016.

Gala London awards

Spectacle Wearer of the Year was launched earlier this year by former Pussycat Dolls singer, Kimberly Wyatt and the singer and Masterchef champion will present the trophy to the eventual winner at a star studded event held in prestigious London venue, 8 Northumberland Avenue on 11 October 2016.

The overall award winner secures £10,000 in cash, a glasses wardrobe from Specsavers worth £1000 and an all-expenses trip to global fashion capital, New York. Category finalists will each receive a VIP make-over and will get the chance to mingle with celebrities at the special gala ceremony.

Store team are delighted

Craigavon store director JP Rice presented Brian with a bottle of champagne and a £150 Specsavers voucher. The team at Specsavers in Rushmere Shopping Centre were delighted that one of their longstanding customers was amongst the 10 semi- finalists in Northern Ireland and JP Rice said, ‘Brian is a fantastic ambassador for glasses and we’d like to wish him well for the next stage of judging’

Brian who is retired has worn glasses for over 17 years and names Elton John and Gok Wan amongst his celebrity ‘specs’ inspiration.

Supporting Kidscape

For each Spectacle Wearer of the Year entry, Specsavers donated £1 to charity Kidscape adding to the £300,000 the campaign has raised for the charity over the last 6 years. The money raised will help Kidscape provide training, support and advice for children, parents and schools and those who may be affected by cases of bullying and abuse in the UK.
