Market Harborough has all eyes on the eighties
Eighties heroes Adam Ant, the Honey Monster and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man helped Specsavers in Market Harborough held a spectacular fun day on Saturday 26 July, and raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
The store team celebrated the 25 year career of contact lens optician David Pell, with an 1980’s themed fundraising day.
Staff dressed up as their favourite eighties icons, while Harborough FM held a disco outside the store, with passers-by dancing the day away to top tunes from the decade!
The team also gave away free sight tests to customers who booked a free contact lens trial.
For their finale, staff released ‘999 Red Balloons’ in a balloon race where customers entered for a donation of £1 (all proceeds going to charity), with a Rubix Cube hamper up for grabs for the owner of balloon that travelled the furthest.
- Visitors also entered a raffle to win some great prizes donated by local businesses including:
- a Rubix Cube storage box
- cut and blow dry at Toni & Guy
- beauty goodies from Mistry’s Chemist
- earrings from Stefan’s and
- sweet treats from Thorntons and Sugar Shack.
Store director Barry Henning said: ‘David started his career in the 1980’s, so in homage to him we thought it would be great fun to dress up as characters from the decade and listen to some classic eighties hits!
Our customers tod us they enjoyed the entertainment and winning the brilliant prizes, all for a good cause'.
