The annual Up Helly Aa Viking fire festival hit the streets of Shetland recently and in preparation for the event, children from Sound Primary helped decorate the shop window of Specsavers Lerwick.

The primary one pupils added a hand-decorated burning boat with spectacles as a sail and a cheering Viking which is all proudly on display in the store window.

A word from the store director

Thomas Bruin, Specsavers Lerwick store director, said: 'Up Helly Aa is a brilliant event which brings the community together. It was fantastic to have the help of the primary ones at Sound Primary to decorate our window in time for the big event.

'The children decorated our window at Christmas time for the Santa parade so we were delighted they could create another striking and colourful design for our window again. Thank you to the pupils and teachers, what a great effort.'
