Specsavers opticians in Colchester share their advice on AW16 trends

The heat is rising and the sunnies are out, but Autumn is approaching, with this month marking London Fashion Week (16-20 September), and it’s not just the colour of the leaves that are changing, but exciting new trends are also beginning to surface in the new season collections already appearing on the shelves.

This autumn/winter muted shades are consuming catwalks and accessories are in the spotlight, being bigger and better than ever. At Specsavers Colchester there are a range of styles of specs for both men and women, from pretty pastels to the bold strong shapes, evident in current collections from Love Moschino (£125)

Go green (mustard and mauve)
A colour that is never out of style... whether you’re talking about glasses, garments or green smoothies, this camo colour is always on trend. Combine your green obsession with food and frames by opting for Specsavers own KALE (£125) design. Style expert and store manager Laura Sharpe comments: ‘You can’t go wrong with green and these specs are good enough to eat!’

The other top shades of the season are mustard yellow and mauve. The bright tones of the summer soften and darken to subtler shades as the nights draw in, so try emulating the trend along with a touch of sparkle for her with Specsavers SEASON (£89). Or for a more delicate look try Specsavers ROSLYN (£69) which gorgeously combines the two into a soft yet psychedelic pattern.

AW16 brings a different scene for men however. Instead of muted tones, the boys are looking to go big and bold with kitsch patterns, bright (traditionally feminine) colours – yes that includes pink, and futuristic canvases.

To look straight to the future, Laura picks the Converse 08 specs. ‘The clear design of these Converse glasses can make a surprisingly big statement. It provides men with the choice to keep it minimalist or stand out by wearing a contrasting bold colour against it such as pink.

‘However if you want to dive right in and make colour the main focus, I would suggest Gant (£149). New to our store just in time for the new season, this design gives you a big pop of colour to attract attention and brighten up any eye colour while also sneaking in a sophisticated yet statement tortoiseshell print, giving you the best of both worlds.

‘Come in store today for a consultation and let us help you get fashion forward ahead of the upcoming trends.’
