Staff from Coalville Specsavers have been raising awareness of Road Safety Week (17-23 November) with a special visit to a local Brownies group.

Optical assistants Leanne Wolfenden and Vicki Toma from Specsavers at 29 Belvoir Shopping Centre visited Hugglescote Brownies to talk about the importance of road safety. They also donated a set of 30 high-visibility vests to the group to ensure they can be seen more clearly when out and about.

Shailan Ruparelia, optometrist and store director at Specsavers Coalville, said: ‘Road Safety Week is a really important nationwide initiative and we were keen to work to reinforce the message locally. The hi-vis vests we’ve donated to the Brownies will hopefully help to keep the children safer on the roads during the early evenings, while giving Brown Owl and those who look after them greater peace of mind.’

Specsavers is the co-sponsor of Road Safety Week, the UK’s flagship road safety event, which is organised by the charity Brake. It’s an opportunity to help raise awareness about the importance of protecting people on bikes and foot as well as raise funds for a worthwhile cause.
