Claremont AFC sponsorship in East Kilbride
Specsavers in East Kilbride has helped a team of budding football stars kick off the new season in style with a new sponsorship agreement.
Claremont AFC 2006 has secured a £500 sponsorship deal with the store to match funding from the Scottish Football Association.
The deal will enable the club to purchase new kits, training equipment including footballs, cones and hurdles as well as two additional coaches.
One of only nine junior teams in the country to have a Quality Mark Award from the SFA, Claremont AFC 2006 is comprised of youngsters aged between seven and eight years old from East Kilbride and the surrounding area. They train in East Kilbride and play five-a-side matches each Sunday at Ravenscraig Sports Centre.
Supporting the local community
Shirley-Ann Kennedy, Specavers director in East Kilbride, said: ‘When we heard Claremont AFC 2006 were in need of additional support to gain their SFA funding, we were happy to step in to help.
‘We have been part of the community in East Kilbride for more than 25 years so it’s massively important to us to continue to give back to the local area – this partnership is just one of the ways we’ve been able to do that.
‘We wish the team every success with the new season and will be keeping a close eye on their progress in the league.’
Andy Sinclair, Claremont AFC 2006’s coach, said: ‘On behalf of our players and coaches, I’d like to thank the team at Specsavers in East Kilbride for their support. The new equipment which the sponsorship has enabled us to buy has really motivated our players by helping them look and feel like a proper team.’
