A Fife charity has been voted Specsavers Community Champion 2016 for the support and services it provides to local people with cancer.

The Winner

Circle of Comfort is a registered Scottish charity which offers complementary therapies to cancer patients in their own home or in hospital. Massage, aromatherapy or reflexology treatments are carried out, free of charge, by their fully qualified therapists to cancer patients across Fife.

Great Scot Awards The Community Champion Award is part of the Sunday Mail Great Scot Awards which honours ordinary people whose stories of courage, determination and selflessness make Scotland proud. The award celebrates an individual or group who have worked tirelessly to improve the lives of people within their local community.

Dunfermline store director, Grace Hepburn said: ‘Specsavers has been a proud sponsor of the Community Champion Award for the past two years.

‘To win is a fantastic accolade for Circle of Comfort as they provide a free professional service that is hugely appreciated by people fighting cancer. Their treatments make a huge difference to the quality of life and well-being of many cancer patients.

Chairperson and founder of Circle of Comfort, Roseann Haig says: ‘We are absolutely thrilled to gain recognition for the work the charity is doing. Our therapists provide complementary treatments in people’s homes up and down Fife in order to support people on their cancer journey. We would like to thank everyone who voted for us and of course to our wonderful therapists who make this charity such a meaningful provision whilst delivering the highest standard of service in a professional and caring way.’
