Children’s optical day is lightyears ahead
Children in Sleaford were treated to a visit by an action hero while getting their eyes tested at a dedicated children’s day at Specsavers opticians.
The team at 44 Southgate held a full day of children’s clinics and provided activities to entertain visitors, including a visit from Buzz Lightyear, who met children and even got an eye test himself.
The team ran a colouring competition alongside the clinic, with the prize for the best design awarded to Ella Waring. Ella was presented with a toy bunny and some chocolate by store manager Kathleen Gray. Children and staff members also got their faces painted in store as part of the fun, and stickers, sweets and balloons were handed out to youngsters throughout the day.
‘Our children’s day was a great success,’ said James Coleman, store director at Specsavers in Sleaford. ‘We filled the clinic all day which means that parents can be confident that their children are able to see properly at school. Around 80% of everything children learn is through their vision, so making sure they have healthy eyesight can have a big impact on their learning.
‘Our children’s day was all about encouraging good eye health for children while having fun and enjoying the activities in store. I think both our customers and the team had great fun – the highlight for the children was definitely the visit from Buzz Lightyear who amused the children by having an eye test himself.’
