Specsavers in Saltcoats has pledged to help the local community stay safer on darker afternoons and evenings by donating high-visibility vests to children in the town.

Representatives at the Dockhead Street store set up a stand outside the store to cheer on the local Santa Dash and handed out canvas bags, high visibility vests and reflective wrist straps to fellow spectators.

Increasing the safety of the community

Alistair Ferdinand, store director at Specsavers Saltcoats, said: 'At this time of year, it can be very difficult for drivers to see pedestrians, making it especially vital to ensure children are safe when out and about or arriving and leaving school or nursery.

'Helping to increase the safety of local children is so important and we’re pleased that we have been able to supply vests to kids in the community.'
