Staff at the Chelmsley Wood store donned their brightest colours as they raised more than £100 for Guide Dogs on Friday 10 October.

The team were decked out in brightly coloured clothing and neon accessories as part of the nationwide Guide Dogs initiative. A representative from the charity joined the group with a four-legged friend to greet customers after 3pm and they were joined by another furry chum from the store in the form of optical assistant Joe Jordan who sported a dog suit!

The team invited customers to sample a slice of homemade cake in return for a small donation.

‘We were excited to host our Glow Party for Guide Dogs and welcoming the charity into store again for the second time this year,’ said Specsavers Chelmsley Wood store director Sukhi Drake. ‘The charity does fantastic work and we’re pleased to have raised over £100 for this great cause.’

The event is part of an ongoing partnership with Guide Dogs which has already seen Specsavers raise enough money to pay for the breeding and training costs of 25 guide dog pups. Guide Dogs provides mobility and freedom to blind and partially sighted people. It also campaigns for the rights of people with visual impairment, educates the public about eyecare and funds eye disease research.
