Charity Quiz Night for new Guide Dog puppy
Specsavers in Darlington is inviting the local community to get involved in its drive to raise £2,500 to support Guide Dogs.
To kick off the fundraising, team members in store have organised a quiz night on Thursday 2 March at The Keys Darlington Restaurant and Club with all money from ticket sales going straight into the fundraising pot.
The opticians, based on High Row, is aiming to raise £2,500 by June. The money from team members and customers of the store will provide much-needed funds for a new guide dog puppy to be trained and prepared for its important career as a constant companion to someone who is visually impaired.
Gery Learmont, store director, said: 'Dogs are often called man’s best friend and we know that, through the excellent work of Guide Dogs, for many men and women throughout the country that is completely true. Many who are visually impaired live much more fulfilled lives due to the amazing help and support a guide dog gives to them.
'At Specsavers it goes without saying we understand the importance of good vision and for those who are challenged in this way so we want to support in any way we can. That's why, in 2017, the fundraising focus at our store is on Guide Dogs.
'We're aiming to get our fundraising off to a really good fun start with our quiz night and meet our target of £2,500 by June. If we succeed in raising that we'll have the opportunity to name the new puppy - and we'll be asking our customers to help us with that too when the time comes.
'The quiz night costs £2.50 a player with up to five in a team.’
