Charity glasses collection at Basildon Opticians
Basildon eyecare experts called upon residents to donate their used and unwanted specs in store. The team from Specsavers in Basildon collected the specs for the global sight charity, Vision Aid Overseas which also celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2015.
A word from the store director
Lee Hansford, director of Specsavers in Basildon, said: ‘As optical experts, we care passionately about people in developing nations without access to the eye care services we have here in the UK. We would like to thank the community for donating their used and unwanted specs to help those in need.’
The proceeds from selling the reusable materials will go towards establishing vision centres, training healthcare workers and utilising the expertise of volunteers to give people desperately-needed eye examinations and treatment. All Basildon store information.
