Charity cash stolen by heartless thieves

A collection tin containing £200 – raised by customers and staff for local charity Royal Blind – has been stolen by callous thieves during a break-in at a local opticians.

Heartless thieves 

Morningside Specsavers store director Michael O’Kane has pledged to replace the charity cash: ‘We are devastated that the money we raised for this extremely worthy charity was stolen from our premises by heartless thieves.

‘We have been big supporters of the charity for the past five years and we will not let this incident deter us from our fundraising efforts.

‘It goes without saying that we will replace the funds that were stolen, as we made a commitment to the charity and intend to honour it.’

Royal Blind is an Edinburgh-based charity which provides education, training and employment for blind and partially sighted people in Scotland.

Specsavers Morningside has provided support through a number of fundraisers in recently years, including a daredevil skydive.
