Fundraising success for children’s dance group
A fun filled day of fundraising at Chelmsley Wood Specsavers has helped a Birmingham dance school fund new costumes ahead of the finals of a national competition.
Successful day of fundraising
The team was joined by youngsters from Inca Arts Dance School on Saturday (28 May) as they hosted a range of fundraising activities in store. With a cake sale, specs MOTs (cleaning and adjustments) and a flashmob routine performed by the dance group, £200 was raised on the day.
Specsavers also made a £600 donation to the group, helping to fund much needed new costumes ahead of the finals of the Dance Champion UK competition, for which the group has recently qualified.
‘We had a fantastic day on Saturday and are really proud to be supporting Inca Dance School as they make their way to the finals of the competition,’ said Sukhi Drake, store director at Specsavers Chelmsley Wood. ‘We had already pledged a £600 donation for the group and customers generously helped us top that up to £800 with their donations, so the youngsters will now be able to have new costumes to wear during the finals in Blackpool.
‘It was great to have the dancers join us in store on Saturday and we wish them the best of luck for the rest of the competition.’
Inca Arts Dance School is based in Marston Green and was set-up in 2015 to provide an avenue into dance for young people. The Dance Champion UK finals will take place in Blackpool on 10 July.
