Clinical assistant Carol Ovenden was given the mammoth task of kicking off the KM Charity Walk at Mote Park in June – and she completed it in style.

Carol, who works at Specsavers Chatham in the High Street, represented the three Medway stores (Chatham, Gillingham and Strood) at the event to raise the flag and welcome the walkers, before completing the five-mile walk herself with her cousin in tow.

A word from the store director

Punit Patel, store director in Chatham, Gillingham and Strood, said: ‘We would like to thank Carol for getting the walk started, and for taking part herself.

‘The Kent countryside is beautiful, and we hear the day ended with a BBQ, some music and a well-earned rest. It sounds like a wonderful way to spend a Sunday, and we hope everyone who took part had a lovely day.’
