Staff at Specsavers on Cardiff Queen Street are celebrating after raising more than £2,000 for charity in just one year.
The store raised a total of £2,119 for 10 different charities, including the Alzheimer’s Society, the British Heart Foundation, Save the Children and Velindre Cancer Centre.

Fundraising events included fancy dress days to fitness challenges with staff completing the Cardiff Half Marathon and hosting an in-store cycle for Sport Relief.
Specsavers staff also got involved in baking cakes to sell in-store, with one cupcake sale raising close to £250 for the Guide Dog’s charity.
James Deavall, director of Specsavers on Queen Street, said: ‘We are absolutely thrilled that our fundraising efforts over the last 12 months have raised such an impressive amount. The overall total is a credit to the team in store; to have raised more than £2,000 is a fantastic achievement, which took a lot of hard work and dedication from all of the team here.
‘The charities that we have supported throughout the year carry out much-needed work here in Wales and around the world, and we were keen to lend our support to a range of inspiring organisations.
‘Without the support from our customers and the local community, we would not have been in a position to fundraise continually and successfully throughout the year. Their generosity is invaluable to our efforts.’
