Staff at the Specsavers store on Queen Street, Cardiff, visited one of its corporate partners, Conduit, to attend a health day that promoted the importance of staff well-being.
Sophie Blow, a pre-registration optician, and Nicola Edwards, retail manager at the Queen Street store, were invited by Conduit to meet members of staff to talk about the importance of looking after their eye and ear health.
During the day, Sophie and Nicola conducted a number of hearing and optical screenings to identify if any of the staff needed follow-up appointments.
The Specsavers staff also shared advice on general eye and ear health for any of Conduit’s employees that had questions for them, this included information about contact lenses and frame choices.
Promoting eye and ear health
Nicola Edwards, retail manager at Specsavers, Queen Street, said: ‘Specsavers is passionate about promoting the importance of looking after a person’s health, so it was a great opportunity for us to go and meet staff at one of our corporate partners.
‘Sophie and I were delighted to meet so many people at the Conduit health day and to be able to share advice about the importance of regular sight and hearing tests. A sight test does not only detect changes in a person’s vision but can also detect other medical conditions such as cataracts, diabetes and glaucoma but this is not something that everybody knows, so the health day was an opportunity for us to go out into the community and promote the importance of regular hearing and sight tests as part of maintaining a person’s general well-being.’
