An apprentice from Canterbury is now embarking on a rewarding career in eyecare with the opticians’ Optical Apprenticeship programme, the biggest government-accredited scheme in the UK.
Charlotte Watts joined 97 other apprentices at the Graduation Ceremony in Birmingham.
Specsavers’ one-year apprenticeship is open to anyone over the age of 16 and requires no previous optical experience. Those that complete it become qualified optical assistants with the chance of full time employment at Specsavers.
Jason Gillan, Specsavers Canterbury store director, says: ‘Supporting and nurturing young talent in our local community is crucial for us. Charlotte worked hard and showed great promise. I look forward to seeing her career progress and maybe one day she will be running her own Specsavers store.
