Fundraising is well underway in Specsavers in Normanton as the team celebrates with Specsavers UK, having already reached their target of £1million in total raised for Comic Relief.
The team has been busy baking up treats to raise funds on Red Nose Day, and funny frames are flying off the shelves.
Store director, Paresh Gohil, said: ‘There’s still time to get your jester-themed Comic Relief frames. The great news is that, as well as every penny of your £2 going to charities through Comic Relief, we can recycle them for you too.
‘Our team’s cakes always go down well with customers, in fact, Tracey's cupcakes are famous locally. We’ve hit our £1million target already, so let’s see how much we can raise to improve lives all over the world.’
A million raised already
This year, Specsavers pledged to raise £250,000 in its successful quest to break the £1million mark overall.
The Comic Relief frames cost just £2 a pair, with 100% of the proceeds going to the charity. They are available to buy in local Specsavers stores and the Comic Relief website.
Glasses returned to the store after Red Nose Day will be sent to a specialist recycling company.
