Staff at Specsavers in Caerphilly have raised an impressive £1,095 for Welsh children’s hospice, Tŷ Hafan.
Raising further funds
The money has been raised by staff who held a bake sale and encouraged donations from customers, and a team of six from the store, including store director, Geraint Jones, took to the roads to run for the Cardiff Half marathon.
A trek to the summit of Pen-y-Fan in the Brecon Beacons has also been organised to raise further funds for Tŷ Hafan.
‘Lifeline to the families’
Geraint Jones, store director at Specsavers in Caerphilly, said: ‘The charity provides vital support for families going through what can only be described as an unimaginable time, and we’re extremely proud to get behind Tŷ Hafan.
‘I’d like to thank everyone who took part in the bake sale, especially our optical assistant, Zoe Sibthorpe, for her tasty Welsh cakes, as well as the five members of staff who endured the gruelling half marathon with me. We’re all really looking forward to our next challenge of walking up Pen-y-Fan, which is all in aid of this fantastic charity.’
The Specsavers team that completed the Cardiff half marathon are accepting donations until 2 November 2016.
