Caerphilly store raises funds for children’s hospice
The Caerphilly team has raised more than £1,700 for the Welsh children’s hospice, Tŷ Hafan.
The team at Specsavers on Cardiff Road held a run of successful cake sales and fancy dress days, and six members of staff, including store director Geraint Jones, completed the Cardiff Half Marathon.
In addition, a group of 16 staff and their families joined forces to hike to the top of south Wales’ largest mountain, Pen-y-Fan, all to raise money for Tŷ Hafan.
‘Tŷ Hafan provides vital support for families going through what can only be described as an unimaginable time, so we’re extremely proud to have started our fundraising efforts with such gusto,’ says Geraint Jones, store director of Specsavers in Caerphilly.
‘I’d like to say a big heartfelt thank you to everyone who has helped out with the fundraising so far, but our efforts won’t stop here. We already have a number of other activities planned to continue our support for Tŷ Hafan in the hope that we can significantly add to the £1,700 we’ve already donated.’
The store announced its year-long partnership with the charity in September 2016, seeing the opticians join forces with 36 other stores across mid and south Wales to carry out fundraising activity in aid of Tŷ Hafan.
Tŷ Hafan provides its specialist services across Wales, free of charge, caring for life-limited children and young people as well as supporting their families.
It also extends its work outside the hospice through community outreach support, with therapists and volunteers visiting homes to interact with the whole family.
