More than 1000 pupils from an Amersham school look set to cheer on their rugby stars during a historic match at the home of rugby.
Thanks to donations from the local community, including Specsavers stores in Chesham and High Wycombe, all 1300 pupils from Dr Challoner’s Grammar School are on track to raise enough funds to travel to Twickenham to watch the school’s Under 15s team play in the national final of the 2016 NatWest Vase competition on Wednesday 16 March.
Local businesses have rallied to help provide transport for the youngsters, following the team’s success in the competition.
A word from the school
Clare Atkinson of Dr Challoner’s said: ‘This is a once in a generation moment for our pupils and we have been overwhelmed at the response from local businesses offering to help us cover transport costs. Our boys have fought off stiff competition from Windsor to Manchester, and we know having their schoolmates there cheering them on will give them an extra boost of confidence on the day.’
