Brownhills staff sets sights on Spanish goals
Specsavers in Brownhills has been supporting a local girls football team in its quest to raise funds for an upcoming trip to play in Spain.
The store has been selling raffle tickets to customers to raise money for the trip with the prize of a giant stuffed tiger. Romeo McNamara, who is soon to celebrate his sixth birthday, was the lucky winner.
‘When Millfield School asked us to help with their fundraising we were happy to help,’ said store director Justine Page. ‘The team have been invited to visit other school teams in Spain and need to raise money to fund the trip. It’s an amazing opportunity for the girls, and we would encourage anyone who can contribute to their fundraising to do what they can.’
From strength to strength
The tour will take place in 2018 and the team’s coach Mr Stacey commented: ‘In the last three years, the team has gone from strength to strength, and it all comes from the commitment of our players. The girls work so hard and put in long hours of training both inside and outside of school, and it really shows; we haven’t lost a game all season!
‘We’re so grateful for the support of Specsavers in Brownhills and would like to thank everyone who took part in the raffle. Competing in Spain next year would be dream come true for the girls and a chance to show them what we can do! Every penny donated is getting us one step closer to that.’
Justine continued: ‘The achievements of the team so far is inspiring, and we can’t wait to hear how they get on in Spain next year. We really would encourage anyone who can to log on to their Just Giving page to donate what you can to give these girls an amazing experience; who knows what it could lead to.’
