Borough eyecare experts are looking out for kids in the borough by championing road safety.

Children visiting Specsavers stores in Beckenham, Bromley, Orpington, Penge and West Wickham have been gifted a high visibility vest to take home.

A word from Specsavers

Bamini Raj, store director at Specsavers in West Wickham, said: ‘Now that the nights are drawing in, we want to make sure that our young people are travelling to and from school and after-school clubs in safety.

‘A simple high visibility vest increases the likelihood of them being spotted by motorists and cyclists in poor lighting conditions.’

More abour the initiative

The initiative launched during Road Safety Week, an annual awareness drive from the charity Brake and co-sponsored by Specsavers.

Brake is a national road safety charity which exists to prevent deaths and injury on roads, through campaigns and other funding. The charity also promotes safe and sustainable road use, and effective road safety policies.
