Brighton's opticians get a bake on

25 November, 2014

The Specsavers opticians in Brighton have raised vital funds for blind veterans by selling homemade cakes.

They baked specifically for Blind Veterans UK, a charity which provides training, rehabilitation and emotional support to blind ex-service men and women. It also helps veterans who have lost their sight through accident, illness or old age.

Specsavers in Brighton held a fundraising day for the charity, where staff donned their aprons to whip up their best sweet treats to encourage donations. The store also saw the likes of the Joker and Grim Reaper serving customers as staff dressed up for the occasion.

£165 raised

Store director, Andrew Wallbank said: ‘We’re very happy to have raised £165.30 for Blind Veterans UK.

‘We wanted to honour our troops around Remembrance Day by supporting the charity, as it helps so many veterans who have lost their sight. We’re very grateful to the local community for helping us to make a difference.’
