A Wishaw youngster’s imaginative drawing won him a pair of free specs from his local opticians.
Leo O’Neill got involved in Specsavers Wishaw’s competition to mark Bonfire Night by handing in his artwork to the store.
For the two weeks leading up to November 5, the store encouraged youngsters to design a picture or poster emphasising how important it is to be safe around fireworks.
Staff had a very tough time choosing but decided on Leo’s design as overall winner. Leo picked a funky new pair of specs and received a tub of sweeties too.
Specsavers Wishaw store director Erin Riddell said: ‘Thank you to everyone who designed a firework safety poster for us. We were very impressed by each and every one of the designs but Leo’s was particularly imaginative.
‘As Bonfire Night is such a big event in this area, we felt it was important to get involved and to emphasise the safety aspect. Fireworks can be very damaging if not used correctly and it’s vital that people of all ages take extra care when they’re around them.’
