Brighouse Specsavers has pledged to keep local school children safe by donating high visibility vests to a local primary schools.
Local school children get visible
Children at Carr Green and St Chad’s primary schools were presented with 100 vests each by Specsavers in Brighouse. Pupils also took part in a special workshop to ensure that they’re safer when their learning takes them out into the community, while walking to and from school and on school trips.
The high visibility vests were donated to the primary schools to increase the safety of local children when out and about by making it easier for motorists to spot them.
A word from the Director
Store Director, Gareth Hart at the Specsavers store in Brighouse comments: ‘At this time of year with the dark mornings and nights, combined with the winter weather, it can be difficult for motorists to see pedestrians, and dusk is particularly hazardous when the children are walking home from school.
‘With this in mind we decided that we wanted to help increase the safety of children in Brighouse and offered Carr Green and St Chad’s Primary Schools the high visibility vests.
‘We are also hoping to raise awareness of free glasses and eye tests that are available to under 16-year-olds. It is important to make sure that children have regular eye tests as an undetected problem could lead to something more severe in the long term.’
