Bridgnorth opticians helps heroes
Specsavers in Bridgnorth raised £368.92 for Help for Heroes.
The store supported the charity carrying out specs MOTs (cleaning and adjustments) in return for donations, as well as selling the charity’s wristbands and pin badges.
Staff also joined forces with the Specsavers Shrewsbury Hearing Centre who raised funds to put on a Help for Heroes event. On Wednesday 14 May, 15 local war veterans (some of who served in WWII) were treated to a trip, on a 1940s bus, to the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.
Martin Skehan, store director said: ‘When we heard what the team at the Shrewsbury Hearing Centre had planned, we instantly wanted to support them. We’re delighted to have raised this amount for Help for Heroes and thank all those who supported us.’
Help for Heroes is a British charity dedicated to helping those who have fought in the armed services, they offer support for the wounded and their families to ensure that those who have made sacrifices are able to achieve their full potential.
