Bridgnorth Specsavers offers enhanced service

People suffering with recent eye conditions can now visit Specsavers in Bridgnorth to make use of a free advice service.

Specsavers can help

Funded by the NHS, the Primary Eyecare Assessment and Referral Service (PEARS) enables customers experiencing acute eye conditions – such as eye irritation or a sudden increase of floaters – to book assessments at the store, as long as they are registered with a Shropshire GP.

Store director Teresa Hughes and optometrist May Dalton are both registered to provide assessments and advice.

‘This is a very valuable service for people in the local community, so we’re proud to be able to offer appointments throughout the week,’ said Teresa. ‘GPs tend to be under great time pressures these days and PEARS enables us to take some of that pressure away by providing assessments in store, saving customers a visit to their GP.

‘Many of the conditions we see in store can be managed quite easily, but if the condition is more serious, we’ll refer the customer to a suitable specialist immediately.’
