Staff at Specsavers in Bridgend swapped their uniforms for brightly coloured neon clothing, and donated confectionery and children’s toys as prizes for a raffle in aid of Guide Dogs, which raised £93.43 for the charity.

Eight-month-old guide dog Yaran also visited the store with her trainer Nora Clarke, as part of the fundraising activities for the event.

'Delighted' with fundraising total

Ann Simpkin, director of Specsavers in Bridgend, said: ‘We’re absolutely delighted to have raised £271 for Guide Dogs.

‘We had a lot of fun when we had a visit from a special visitor this month. Yaran the guide dog was certainly a hit with staff and customers, and it was fantastic to raise awareness for such a wonderful charity, which provides invaluable help to blind and partially sighted individuals.

‘I’d like to thank the local community for their support because without their generosity, we would not have been able to donate these all important funds to train a Guide Dog puppy to helpa blind person’
