New opticians at Barnstaple superstore Councillor Ian Roome joined staff and customers to officially open a new Specsavers store for Barnstaple. This is the fourth Specsavers store to open in a Sainsbury’s in the South West and is located inside the Gratton Way superstore. It complements the existing service provided by Specsavers Barnstaple in the town centre, on Gammon Lane, and marks the expansion of eye care services at another convenient location for local people.
A new look
Cllr. Roome was given a guided tour of the new facilities and introduced to the new team. He also met with some of the fully-qualified healthcare professionals led by store manager Sadie Reed who has more than 10 years of experience. Optical apprentice Nicole Matthews, dispensing optician Steph Davey and Carly Reid, an experienced dispenser and audiology assistant, join the team alongside retail partner Emily Waters and ophthalmic partners Hannow Mahmoud and Jon Lloyd.
Cllr Ian Roome said: ‘I am delighted to join staff and customers to officially open this new store. It’s great to see a local business expanding and creating more jobs for the community and I’m sure this new location will help customers access the expert eye care they need.’
The latest technology
Barnstaple Specsavers store directors Emily Waters, Jon Lloyd and Hannow Mahmood said: ‘In addition to great service we will also be offering the most up-to-date technology to provide enhanced eye tests, including an optical coherence tomography (OCT) scanner. This is hospital-grade technology that provides a 3D scan of the eye. Thanks to this technology we are able to identify potentially sight-threatening conditions much earlier than previously thought.’
Hannow continued: ‘We’re delighted to open this new store here at the Gratton Way Sainsburys. It’s another opportunity for shoppers to bring together the ease of a weekly shop while ensuring their eye health is up to date. The team and I look forward to welcoming you.’
