Bradford Specsavers has shown its support to a local church, by offering to fund the catering for one of its community events.

A generous offer
Specsavers in Idle demonstrated its support of St. John’s Church in Thorpe Edge, by purchasing food and refreshments for the church’s recent Easter Messy Church event.

Messy Church is an event that’s held once a month at St. Johns, which encourages families to come together to enjoy a series of crafts, art workshops and lunches, as well as short periods of worship.

Specsavers, on the Enterprise 5 Retail Park in Idle, decided to donate to the cause after recognising the valuable service the Messy Church events offer to the local community.

A word from the director
Speaking about the donation, Bhrat Phakey, store director at Specsavers in Idle, said: ‘The Messy Church events held at St. John’s Church provide a great opportunity for the local community to come together to enjoy some quality family time, whether it be through worship, workshops or by simply enjoying lunch together.

The team at the store feels really strongly about supporting the local community in any way we can, and it was great to be able to go along to the Easter Messy Church event to see for ourselves how our donation was used to help fund the session.

The Messy Church events are really worthwhile and are definitely something that we’ll be looking to support again in the future.’
