Helping blind veterans in Bracknell
Specsavers Bracknell has upped its fundraising stakes and raised vital funds for the charity, Blind Veterans UK by holding a entire week of fundraising that commenced on Saturday 28 June.
Gary Parker, Specsavers Bracknell store director said: ‘Blind Veterans UK is a fantastic charity, and our staff were very excited to get involved. We were able to give away some very exciting prizes including vouchers from Waitrose, Pizza Hut, and Sainsbury’s.
‘Our week of fundraising was a great opportunity for us to raise money and increase awareness of armed forces personnel who are battling with sight loss. We were delighted to see lots of customers pop in to join in our fundraising and we would like to thank all of our customers for their generosity.’
Practical and emotional support
Blind Veterans UK was founded in 1915 by Sir Arthur Pearson who was determined to provide care and rehabilitation to those who lost their sight in the First World War. Today the charity provides lifelong practical and emotional support for veterans, helping them to recover their independence and discover life beyond their sight loss.
