Bodmin supporting heroes for Atlantic challenge
The Bodmin store is supporting two local residents as they prepare to complete a challenge of a lifetime.
They're sponsoring Neil Blackeby and Hamish Stewart who are taking part in the 2015 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, a Trans-Atlantic rowing race from East to West, in aid of charity. The store has donated £500 which will be going to their chosen charity, Children’s Hospice South West. They have also given two pairs of free glasses to the men to see them through their challenge.
3,000 mile journey
Neil and Hamish will be setting off on Tuesday 15 December off from San Sebastian in La Gomera and ending in Nelson’s Dockyard English Harbour, Antigua. The 3000 mile journey will last around eight weeks with all boats being totally self-sufficient carrying all required safety equipment, food and water.
Joanna McLean, store director said: ‘We are thrilled to be sponsoring Neil and Hamish on this incredible journey. The time, dedication and will-power that they have put into their training and preparation is mind blowing and their determination to raise as much money as possible for the Children’s Hospice South West is amazing.
‘Although we may not be able to help the guys once they’re out on the open sea, we are proud to be supporting them and doing our bit to raise extra funds for an important charity.’
