Specsavers Bodmin support the Motor Neurone Disease Association at golf event

The store recently sponsored the 18th hole at a local charity golf event, as well as donating a voucher for a pair of designer specs to the raffle.

For a good cause

The charity event, which was held at Lanhydrock Hotel and Golf Club in Bodmin, was in aid those with motor neurone disease (MND), a degenerative disease that damages the nerves in the brain and spinal cord.

Staff at the store were inspired to support the cause when they learnt that one of their customers, Derek Williamson, has sadly lost three family members, including his son, to the incurable disease.

Store director, Jo McLean, said: ‘We’re pleased to have been able to support the Motor Neurone Disease Association, whose work has directly impacted one of our customers. It was great to see so many local businesses and golfers come together to support a cause that improves the lives of those with this devastating disease.’

Supporting the community

The team in Bodmin sponsor a number of other local groups and business ventures including, Bodmin Town Football Club, children’s book The Holiday – A Chough’s Tale by local author Jani Tully Chaplin and this year’s Pirate FM Local Heroes Awards.
