The store enjoyed a night of celebrations at Tregenna Castle for the annual Pirate FM, Local Heroes Awards ceremony.

Supporting the local community

We sponsored the Good Neighbour and Emergency Services awards which were presented on the evening and were present to help the winners celebrate their achievements.

Store director, Jo McLean, said: ‘The Pirate FM awards offer a great opportunity to recognise the contributions of individuals, be they small acts of kindness or potentially life-saving services, to a community that we are proud to be part of. It was wonderful to be there to congratulate the winners.’

The winners

Terry Smith, a local fireman, took home the trophy for the category for Emergency Services, following 35 years of dedication to keeping the community safe and going beyond the call of duty on countless occasions.

Seven-year-old Jayden England was presented with the Good Neighbour award for his brave and swift actions when he saw that his deaf neighbour had collapsed. Although the neighbour passed away, Jayden was praised by the ambulance service for remaining calm and relaying clear CPR instructions to his grandfather.
