Bodmin offering eye care advice for the winter
Now that it’s set to get a little colder, the Bodmin store is offering advice to locals on how to protect their eyes from the winter conditions.
The combination of cold winds and central heating can sometimes result in dry, gritty and bloodshot eyes. Store director Joanna McLean is offering her top tips on preventing sore eyes this winter.
To limit the chances of dry eye, turn down your central heating, avoid car heaters and sit further away from direct heat such as gas or electric heaters. Dehydration during the winter months can cause the gritty sensation and dryness we sometimes experience in our eyes.
Cut back on the coffee and drink more water to keep hydrated.
If you’re experiencing particularly dry eyes, use eye drops for extra lubrication. The term ‘dry eye’ is used when the oil content of tears doesn’t efficiently lubricate the eye. People with dry eyes often have plenty of water tears so adding eye drops may seem to not make sense but it’s a vital contribution.
