The Tour de France might have long finished but Specsavers Bloxwich has been keeping the cycling spirit alive by taking on a 500-mile static bike challenge and raising more than £1,000 in aid of local teacher, Rebecca Broughton.
From Monday 29 July to Tuesday 13 August, members of the team took it in turns to have a go on the bike to reach the target. The money has been raised in support of Rebecca, who has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer.
A word from the store director
‘About six or seven of the team got involved in the static bike ride,’ said Jagroop Uppal, store director at Specsavers Bloxwich. ‘It took a while for us to complete the challenge, as we were jumping on the bike in between speaking to customers, but we’re really pleased with the fundraising total of £1,089. We’d like to thank everyone who donated, as the money will allow Rebecca to enjoy some quality time with her family.’
