There were plenty of festive surprises for children at Derian House Children’s Hospice when Father Christmas and his little band of helpers from Specsavers Blackburn paid a special visit with a sack full of presents.
Members of the teams from Specsavers’ stores at Lord Street Mall and Morrisons superstore were on hand to help Santa meet and greet families on a surprise visit to the Chorley hospice and handed out gifts specially donated by staff at the opticians.
Specsavers Blackburn retail director Mandy Jeewooth said: ‘What a magical day. The hospice is Specsavers Blackburn’s chosen charity so to see the invaluable work and support the hospice provides first-hand, and to spend time with the families, was an honour.
‘The Specsavers team donated these gifts so it was fantastic to see the children’s smiles light up the room when they saw Father Christmas.’
Derian House provides specialist care & support for children and young people with a life threatening illness. The hospice is open 365 days a year and the care is completely free to families. With more than £3 million needed each year, it remains almost totally reliant on voluntary funding.
