The Blackburn team is inviting local children to enjoy a packed and colourful day of fun and games as well as a free eye test on Tuesday, May 31.
The town’s two Specsavers stores at Lord Street Mall and Morrisons superstore will be jointly hosting the special half-term holiday event from 9am-5.30pm in order to raise awareness of children’s eye health in the town.
Laugh and learn
Specsavers Blackburn store retail director Mandy Gudgeon said: ‘We’re immensely proud of the work we’ve been doing with local schools to raise awareness of children’s eye health care and vision correction this year, so we hope that as many local kids will be able to join us for a great fun day.
‘The team are hugely looking forward to the event and I can’t wait to see what they come up with for their fancy dress outfits.
‘We’ll have six optometrists testing across both stores performing tests while our fantastic team on hand throughout the day.’
For a good cause
As well as donning fancy dress, staff will be offering face painting, colouring competitions and a cake sale with all donations to Derian House Children’s Hospice.
The event is aimed at children under 16 and there will even be a special guest appearance from Derian House mascot Derian Danni.
Derian House provides specialist care & support for children and young people with a life threatening illness. The hospice is open 365 days a year and the care is completely free to families. With more than £3 million needed each year, it remains almost totally reliant on voluntary funding.
