Belper Specsavers backs customer’s British Transplant Games bid
Belper Specsavers is sponsoring Simon Elmore, a local transplant patient, as he takes part in the British Transplant Games from 30 July to 2 August 2015.
The team at Specsavers will be sponsoring Simon’s entry fee and providing Specsavers water bottles for the West Midlands team participating in the Games.
Following his personal transplant experience in 2013, Simon has campaigned to support transplant patients across the country. He set up the Voluntary Independent Renal Support group for people affected by kidney problems and previously founded the Royal Derby Kidney Patient Association.
‘It has been a rollercoaster of a journey for me but thanks to the support of family and friends I am spurred on for the Games!’ said Simon. ‘I would like to thank Specsavers in Belper for their continued support over the years.’
Andy Mcbride, Belper store director, said: ‘Simon’s been a loyal customer at the store for many years and we’re proud to be supporting him again this year. We wish Simon all the best in this year’s British Transplant Games.’
About the British Transplant Games
The British Transplant Games bring together teams from hospitals across the UK to demonstrate the benefits of transplantation, encouraging patients to regain fitness while increasing public awareness of the need for more people to join the NHS Organ Donation Register.
